Press Release

iMaps, Immutable Insight and PP-Asset Management rely on proof-of-stake blockchain technology with new ETI

With the newly launched Exchange Traded Instrument, or ETI for short, iMaps is investing in the sustainable proof-of-stake blockchain process.

Liechtenstein, September 14, 2021 – iMaps Capital Markets (iMaps), a brand of the European white-label ETI issuer iMaps ETI AG, has launched a new structured product: the sustainliquid ETI (ISIN: DE000A3GS2E2). In collaboration with the blockchain experts from Immutable Insight and the asset management company PP-Asset Management, iMaps has launched the investment product in the form of an exchange-traded instrument. It has been traded on the Stuttgart Stock Exchange since the beginning of September.

The second generation of blockchains solves this problem by no longer generating mining revenue through complicated and energy-intensive computing tasks. Instead, they are remunerated according to the size of their stake – i.e. their share of the system. The more cryptocoins a validator has at their disposal, the higher their earnings. They share this with the sustainliquid ETI set up by iMaps and therefore with its investors.

PP Asset Management hedges the price risk of the sustainliquid ETI. As a result, it largely absorbs the still high volatility on the crypto markets. The investment product thus enables an increase in value that most closely corresponds to that of a money market product. With a management fee of zero percent, the sustainliquid ETI is financed exclusively through profit sharing. This underlines the initiators’ firm belief in the instrument’s positive development potential.

Blockchain expert initiated sustainliquid ETI

We have now expanded our exchange-traded instruments to include cryptocurrency investment strategies that explicitly take advantage of the growth opportunities offered by the new generation of blockchains. This gives private investors the opportunity to easily invest in this technology – comparable to an ETF, only much more flexible,” comments Andreas Woelfl, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of iMaps ETI AG. “I am particularly pleased that we were able to win Katharina Gehra, one of the most influential voices in the German fintech and blockchain scene, as the initiator of the ETI. With her expertise, we have succeeded in implementing all the key requirements in our product. This enabled us to manifest the current crypto technology in a sustainable strategy,” continues Andreas Woelfl. He and his company have committed to providing daily liquidity with a maximum spread of one percent for their ETIs listed on the Stuttgart Stock Exchange.

The idea for the product came from Immutable Insight, which is a pioneer in the German blockchain industry, and not for the first time. For Katharina Gehra, CEO & Co-Founder of Immutable Insight, the sustainability aspect is paramount: “sustainliquid ETI is a genuine product innovation. It uses the new technology to create a liquidity management product that is compatible with Article 9 ESG.” The launch on the stock exchange was very successful: in the first half of September, the ETI was among the top five most traded participation investments several times. These are products that replicate an investment 1:1, i.e. without embedded derivatives. The company co-founded by Katharina Gehra was one of the first to launch a blockchain fund as a German AIF and still manages it today.
