How to buy an ETI

Your step-by-step guide to accessing iMaps Exchange Traded Instruments

ETIs: Professional Strategies, Public Access

iMaps ETIs (Exchange Traded Instruments) let investors participate in actively managed strategies – from traditional equity portfolios to alternative and thematic investments – via a listed security on Börse Stuttgart (EUWAX). They are designed to fit seamlessly into your existing investment setup, so you can buy and sell them as easily as a share or ETF.

Where You Can Buy iMaps ETIs

Because iMaps ETIs are exchange-listed, you can access them through multiple established channels:

1. International Online Brokers:

  • Interactive Brokers: With nearly 14 million client accounts, over US $568 billion in client assets, and 2.6 million trades executed daily across 150+ markets.
  • Swissquote: Swiss online bank with over CHF 76 billion in client assets and 650,000+ accounts. Offers access to 1.7 million structured products on Euwax.

2. Your Private Bank:

Large institutions such as UBS, Deutsche Bank, Julius Baer, as well as many regional European private banks, offer direct access to Stuttgart’s EUWAX segment. In most cases, all you need to do is provide the ISIN of the ETI and ask the bank to open it for trading.

3. German Neobrokers

  • Traders Place
  • Joe Broker
  • Smartbroker

4. Baader Bank

As iMaps’ issuing and paying agent, Baader Bank also provides execution for professional investors.

How to Buy an ETI: The Interactive Brokers Example

Since IB is one of the most widely used global brokers, here’s the process in practice:

  1. Open an Account at https://www.interactivebrokers.com/Universal/Application and enable Two-Factor Authentication.
  2. Fund Your Account via bank transfer in EUR, USD, CHF, or other currencies.
  3. Set Trading Permissions: enable Warrants, Options (level 4), Index Options and Complex or Leveraged Exchange Traded Products.
  4. Download TWS: https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/tws.php#tws-software (ETIs should be bought over Trader Workstation, and not the Client Portal)
  5. Place Your Order: search the ETI by ISIN, confirm the Stuttgart (SWB/EUWAX) listing, and execute your trade.
  6. Manage FX: if your base currency differs from EUR, convert manually or via auto-convert.

Trading Hours & Settlement

  • Market hours: 9:00–17:30 CET
  • Settlement: Clearstream, with availability in Euroclear and SIX.
  • Liquidity: EUWAX AG acts as Quality Liquidity Provider, ensuring daily buy/sell availability.

Next Step For You:

Check if your current bank/broker has Stuttgart Stock Exchange access and allows trading ETIs. If they do, all you need is the ISIN of the ETI you want to trade, and you’re already only one trade away from joining the market.
